USGBC GreenBuild Conference and Expo. Off-Site Education Session Planning
In early 2011 the Canadian Green Building Council (CaGBC) invited
Lapointe Architects to participate in the planning of Off-Site Education
sessions – for attendees to gain points towards ongoing professional
accreditation requirements. Lapointe Architects suggested an event focusing on
First Nation architecture, which the committee overwhelmingly supported.
Lapointe Architects organized the session and invited Richard Kroeker,
professor at The School of Architecture at Dalhousie, and Dewey Smith, Senior
Policy Advisor-housing at the assembly of First Nations to present at the
event. The event was hosted by Native Child and Family Services of Toronto in
their newly renovated and sustainable building on College Street.
